About the Alliance : Member Councils

Member Councils

The Smart Card Alliance Latin America has member-driven industry and technology councils that are focused groups within the overall structure of the Alliance. Councils have been created to foster increased industry collaboration within a specified industry or market segment and produce tangible results, speeding smart card adoption and industry growth. Groups collaborate on specific deliverables, including reports, briefings and educational material. Active Councils currently include:

  • Financial Payments Council: To promote the understanding of the benefits using smart cards in the financial sector.
  • Government Information Exchange: To exchange information among different government institutions in the region regarding the use of smart cards in helping to improving government services.

    Leading Organization: Visa International LAC & Banrisul
    Mission: To help expand the knowledge and advantages of using smart cards for electronic payments.
    Working on: Domestic/Regional Liability Shift White Paper

  • Government Information Exchange

    Representative: Maurício Augusto Coelho
    Leading Organization: Instituto Nacional de Tecnologia da Informação (ITI) - Brazil
    Mission: To create opportunities for government institutions in Latin America to exchange information and experiences as well as develop means of communication with mayor industry players.
