Smart Cards in Government has experienced double-digit growth, driven by the accelerating interest in strategies and technologies that help speed the adoption of HSPD 12 and other key government initiatives. The 2007 conference will accommodate that growth while maintaining the personal interaction and quality of focus that has been a hallmark the event.

The Ronald Reagan Building & International Trade Center, an ideal facility downtown Washington, DC, offers convenient train and subway access and room to accommodate over 800 attendees who will participate, in a state-of-the-art trade show facility with 55 exhibitors. The conference features leaders from the federal government and industry in an interactive, instructive forum on the business issues, implementation milestones, and technology advancements happening in the government smart card market–including the government’s HSPD 12 directive underway for federal and contract employee Personal Identity Verification (PIV) cards, electronic passports, the TWIC program involving the U.S. Coast Guard, registered traveler cards coming to dozens of airports, and the first responder authentication credential trials that involve federal, state, and local agencies throughout the country.

In 2007, new government identity programs that will impact millions of U.S. citizens are underway including the Western Hemisphere Traveler Initiative, REAL ID Act drivers license reform, These government-driven programs have moved beyond the standards and definition stage and are beginning the deployment. This conference will look at the opportunities and challenges ahead for government issuers, accreditation and testing authorities, procurement programs, and the industry to meet government’s timetable and market demands.
