Mission: To help expand the knowledge and advantages of using smart cards for access control in the security industry.

The Smart Card Alliance Latin America (SCALA) Physical Access Council brings together key players, from the access control market to promote the adoption and migration of physical access control systems to smart cards. As new concerns arise for access control systems to increase their security and reliability, smart cards have began to play a greater role for the security of the physical and logical access market. This SCALA council has developed a tri-lingual educational course on the use of smart cards for physical access control that covers from the basic components of the technology to the final process of card personalization. This course has been supported by mayor industry players including the Latin American Security Association (ALAS).
