Flexible MicroPass-Powered Bank Cards Ready for Brazilian Economy
AIX-EN-PROVENCE, France, December 11th, 2008–Strengthening its presence in the Brazilian contactless payments segment, INSIDE Contactless, the world leader in advanced contactless microprocessor platforms, today announced it is expanding its relationship with American Banknote (ABnote) Brazil to produce Visa type approved contactless payment cards for this growing economy. Anhanguera University students will be first to use the new multi-functional cards for secure payment, access to campus buildings, and more
Amsterdam and São Paulo, December 11, 2008–Gemalto, the world leader in digital security, today announced it is providing Banco Santander with innovative technology for its university identity card program. It is Brazil’s first multi-functional smart card combining EMV (Europay, Mastercard and Visa) payment and contactless access control on a single ID card, to be used within the university buildings–for students, teachers and staff. Gemalto delivers the cards to the universities and personalizes each card with the cardholder’s unique data at its personalization center in Barueri, São Paulo.

This worldwide innovation will first be launched in Brazil
Rio de Janeiro, Oct 27, 2008–Oi, the first quadri-play operator in Brazil, today announces that it will launch, in the first week of November, Windows Live Messenger services built into Oi’s SIM card, in partnership with Microsoft and Gemalto. This worldwide innovation means that users who buy a new Oi SIM card will have direct access to Messenger functionalities in any Oi mobile phone. The new features will first be available for customers in all States where Oi operates.

Libercard lets Brazilians ride transit and make contactless payments, top-ups at retailers using a single prepaid contactless card
Fortaleza, Brazil, October 7th, 2008–Libercard, ViVOtech and Inteligensa today announced that they have collaborated to develop the first Transit & Retail combination contactless payment implementation in Latin America. With the new technology, Brazilians in the city of Fortaleza use a single contactless payment card to ride local transit and make retail purchases. Libercard has enabled tens of thousands of transit riders with dual-purpose prepaid contactless cards to ride transit, pay for purchases and perform top-ups at several hundred retail stores in Fortaleza that use ViVOtech contactless payment devices implemented with Inteligensa integration expertise.

December 20, 2007–XIRING has announced a partnership with E-Safetransfer and a first delivery of 15,000 Teo by XIRING readers for the Brazilian administration.
E-Safetransfer has received a purchase order for 15,000 Teo by XIRING readers from the Brazilian Ministry of Finance, through its department of Internal Revenue (R.F.B Receita Federal do Brazil), which are to be delivered immediately. This first contract with the Brazilian Government aims to equip the Department’s employees with smart card readers in line with the PKI smart card infrastructure in Brazil.
